William’s mother, Ellen Sherry was born about 1835, at Mullough Meath Ireland, she was 14 years old when she arrived in Sydney Australia with her parents, and brothers and sisters. They arrived on the ‘Scotia’ on the 11th of July 1849. The family lived at Goulburn for a while before moving to Albury N.S.W. Where they bought three allotments of land, down on ‘The Flat’, here they built their home and settled down to raise their family.

Ellen Sherry married Daniel Buckley on the 25th of October 1857 in the Roman Catholic Church at Albury.

Ellen Buckley died in child birth on the 16th of January 1874, she was 39 years old, she is buried in the Albury cemetery.
