The death has occurred at Wagga of Mr Samuel Angel, one of the oldest residents of the district and a member of one of the earliest pioneering families of Australia. His father, Mr Henry Angel, was a member of the Hume and Hovell expedition that in 1824 crossed the Murray from New South Wales into Victoria. Mr Samuel Angel had been married 61 years, and he retired to Wagga after 50 years on the land. He called his Wagga home Wardry after the station on which he was born. Later the name of the station was changed to Uardry.

Note: According to his death certificate, Samuel was 84 years old and a retired grazier. He died at 42 Trail Street, Wagga Wagga from Auricular Fibrillation, Chronic Myocarditis and Chronic Nephritis. He was last seen by a Dr Alan F Smith on the day he died. The death information was his son Samuel who was living at Mangoplah. Witnesses to his burial were George Hanson and J Dennis. Source- death certificate supplied by the National Centre of Biography.

Mrs S. M. Geddes

Mrs Sheila Mary Geddes, who died recently, was born at Wagga Wagga 29 years ago. She was the wife of Mr Robert Jack Geddes, and the third daughter of Mr J. J. Byrnes and the late Mrs Clarice Byrnes, of "Wellington Court,'' Darley-road, Manly (formerly Wagga).

Mrs Geddes is survived by three sisters, Mesdames Veronica Carberry (Coolac), Patricia Burley (Manly) and Josephine McRoatie (Manly), and a brother, Brian (Coopernook).

She was educated at the Presentation Convent, Wagga, and served for four years in the A.W.A.S. The last rites were administered by the Rev. Dr. H. Davis, of Darlinghurst. Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Church of Mary Immaculate, Manly, by the Very Rev. Monsignor J. McDonald. P.P., who also officiated at the interment at French's Forest Cemetery.
