Note: At the Surrey Quarter Sessions on Michaelmas 2 Oct 1787, Jonathan went on trial and was charged with assault & threatened violence. At the time of the incident he was living at St George The Martyr, Southwark, Surrey. William Winter, esq presided in his case. Taken from the court paper: "Committed the 3d day of September, 1787, by William Winter, esq, charged on the oaths of Isaac Solomon and Joseph Saunders, that he has assaulted and violently beat the said Isaac Solomon; and for want of sufficient sureties". Jonathan pleaded not guilty but was found to be guilty. Sentence: "Ordered To Be Kept To Hard Labour For 3 Months In House Of Correction Saint George's Fields Unless He Enters To Serve His Majesty".

Note: At the Surrey Quarter Sessions at Michaelmas, 5 Oct 1790, Jonathan was charged with Theft or Intent to Steal by Edward Layton Esq. Offence description from the trial papers: Committed the 30th day of August, 1790, by Edward Layton, Esq, charged on the oaths of Thomas Ellis and Robert Manning; and also upon the confession of Elizabeth Yardley (who bought the goods herein-after mentioned) with having on the 20th instant, in the parish of St Mary, Magdalene, Bermondsey, in the county of Surrey, feloniously stolen, taken, and carried away, two hundred weight and upwards of glue, the property of the said Thomas Ellis; against the peace. Brooker stole the glue from a yard in Long Lane, St. Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, belonging to Thomas Ellis, a glue maker, and selling it to Elizabeth Yardley of Mint Street, St. George, Southwark, dealer in old iron, who then sold it to Robert Manning of 25 Mint Street. Jonathan pleaded not guilty but was found guilty and was sentenced to be transported for 7 years. At the time of the offence, Jonathan was living at St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, Surrey.
