The death has occurred at Wagga of Mr Samuel Angel, one of the oldest residents of the district and a member of one of the earliest pioneering families of Australia. His father, Mr Henry Angel, was a member of the Hume and Hovell expedition that in 1824 crossed the Murray from New South Wales into Victoria. Mr Samuel Angel had been married 61 years, and he retired to Wagga after 50 years on the land. He called his Wagga home Wardry after the station on which he was born. Later the name of the station was changed to Uardry.

Note: According to his death certificate, Samuel was 84 years old and a retired grazier. He died at 42 Trail Street, Wagga Wagga from Auricular Fibrillation, Chronic Myocarditis and Chronic Nephritis. He was last seen by a Dr Alan F Smith on the day he died. The death information was his son Samuel who was living at Mangoplah. Witnesses to his burial were George Hanson and J Dennis. Source- death certificate supplied by the National Centre of Biography.

OBITUARY Mr. S. ANGEL

The death occurred at Lewisham Private Hospital, Wagga, yesterday morning of one of the best-known businessmen of The Rock, Mangoplah and Wagga districts, Mr. Samuel Angel, of Mangoplah, at the age of 65 years.

Mr. Angel was a principal of the firm of Messrs S. Angel and Son, stock and station agents, of Mangoplah and The Rock, and was highly esteemed throughout Riverina. Born at Wagga, he had resided all his life in the district.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Angel, of Wagga, early pioneers of the district. Mr. Angel is survived by his widow (Mrs. Rose Angel, of Mangoplah); two daughters, Miss Alice Angel of Sydney, and Mrs. M. Wilson of Culcairn; two sons, Messrs Ronald Samuel Angel of Queensland, and Clifford Angel of The Rock; one brother, Albert of Wagga; and two sisters, Mrs. R. Hanson of Wagga, and Mrs. N. Wyld of Lithgow.

The funeral will take place in Wagga today, the cortege leaving St. John's Church of England after a service commencing at 3.45 o'clock for the Wagga Cemetery.

The death occurred suddenly in Lithgow Hospital on Saturday of Mr. Alfred Norman Wyld, until recently proprietor of Lithgow brewery. He was 56.

Mr. Wyld came to Lithgow in 1934. He was an alderman of the city council from 1945 to 1948. He was also a returned soldier from the first World War

He owned several trotters.

Steele was stated to be manager of the Western Wine end Spirit Store Co., which is owned by Terry's Brewery. Police lodged no objection to the application.

OBITUARY - MRS. M. B. HANSON

The death occurred at Rawson Private Hospital yesterday of Mary Blanch Hanson, wife of the late Mr. H.. R. (Dick) Hanson of 60 Murray Street, Wagga, at the age of 78 years.

A native of Wagga the late Mrs. Hanson was very well known having spent the greater part of her life in Wagga.

She is survived by three sons Messrs. Fred of Haberfield, and George and Ross of Wagga, two daughters Miss Olive Hanson of Wagga and Doris (Mrs. Wllklns of Kogarah Bay), one brother Mr. Albert Angel of Wagga, and one sister Olive (Mrs. Wild of Manly), also six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The funeral will take place this afternoon the cortege will leave St. John's Church of England, Wagga, after a service to start at 4 o'clock for the Wagga cemetery.
